Comtech LLC is very proud of our employee, John Wysocki, who was a key member of the team that received the GSA Regional Commissioner's Award of Excellence. When the OMB required implementing advanced metering and control, the team had to determine what was required to update the national guidance & processes. The lack of experience in building controls/energy management systems created many obstacles, including gaining the necessary security verification methodology for personnel and software, connectivity issues, and poor communication between business lines. The team provided immense technical support to eighteen ARRA project teams, assisting in scope development, design reviews, and numerous IT questions/issues with the PBS-CIO and OCIO. Without the team, not a single R6 ARRA project would have met the advanced metering requirements. However, with the assistance of John and the rest of the team, eight R6 buildings currently meet their required measurement.

The team’s research and issue resolution ultimately helped prompt PBS-CIO to develop a national PBS-CIO Building Automation team, leveraging the R6 advanced metering team guidance and processes into national standards. These standards will be used for implementing new network connected building systems, thus leveraging Information Technology on a national scale.
