City of Alexandria, Virginia has awarded Comtech LLC a contract for Information Technology Professional Services to provide technical support to the City’s Information Technology Services Department in the following areas: Consulting services for applications needs determination and design, Applications programming services, Technical Writing, IT project management services, Business process review analysis, Technical Support - Help Desk/ IT Customer Service, Technical Support - Telecommunications/VOIP, Information Systems Security Analysts, Geographic Information Systems Services. The contract is issued for an initial one-year period for 2012, with four one-year renewal option periods.
The City’s infrastructure is a mixed computing environment. Desktop clients are standardized on Windows XP or Windows 7. Workstations are hosted on local area networks (LANs) in offices
throughout the City. The LANs are connected through the City’s network (I-Net) to Windows file, print, and application servers located throughout the City, as well as, in a network operations center. The City connects several remote sites through private DSL providers. New applications are developed using the Microsoft .NET Framework, utilizing IIS, ASP.NET, VB.Net,
C#.Net, SharePoint Services, SQL Server and the Office Professional suite.
